Firstly before I start to write this i want to point out that i will not be able to keep this pace up and the only reason that i am writing so much is because i want to fill up the website with some quality entries to form somewhat of a strong foundation for me to then build the blog from. However who know maybe once we have multiple passionate writers the content may come much more frequently, but that's enough of that!The reason that i want to write about porn (other than the fact that its fucking awesome) is that the porn industry itself has only recently begun to change and many of the taboos that normally accompany the genre of film are fading fast. So why is there such as major change in the world of film erotica? Well there are a number of reasons but ill just be talking about a few.
- The big budget porn flicks made by companies such as Digital Playground and Vivid Videos have begun to blur the lines between porn and everyday cinema with well thought out storylines and more focus on better acting.
- Porn stars themselves have become global celebrities and in the case of Jenna Jameson household names which has lend to more public acceptance of porn.
- Also a shift in social attitudes has also lead to porn being highly acceptable among young people.
Recent movies such as 'Pirates' and 'Nurses' (both movies that i reviewed personally for this blog post) make it is easy to see the new path that large porn producers such as Digital Playground are taking. A large aspect of this new wave of movie is a strong focus of production and post-production. Never before have i seen porn films with the editing, lighting and camera work that rivals big Hollywood films but it is starting to become more and more common. Also the old tacky cliches of porn's retro pasts have been revamped to be more entertaining with crude humour and somewhat engaging storyline. however the industry still has some work to do but I look forward to the day i can see a movie that is the quality of 'Fight Club' with hardcore sex scenes.Stars such as Jenna Jameson, Jesse Jane and Bree Olsen have become celebrities in there own right and are braking the mold of what we would normally describe a celebrity as. Also it is becoming more and more common to see well known personalities such as Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian (aka most fuckable ass in the world) having sex tapes of themselves released which is starting to redefine what is socially acceptable in western culture.
Lastly and probably most importantly is that porn itself is more accessible and more openly talked about by the youth of today. I can testify that when i was at school there was many a candid conversation about porn at the lunch table with both guys and girls. I even recall having a very open talk with a girl in my art class about different types of porn and what she liked to watch. Even masturbation itself is not taboo with young people and it is the open culture about sex that is embracing porn and everything it represents.
